Location Trail Description

CANNON BALL DOWN HILL TRAIL

trail1

Thredbo’s signature trail, descending 600m vertically through the tree-lined Supertrail slopes. Cannonball tests riders with off-camber roots, rock drops, jumps, wall-ride and other technical features that the gravity specialists dream about. Recent upgrades include more fall-line added along with some big jumps in the mix for the freeriders. With the rough nature of the Cannonball Downhill, riders are going to have to put some thought into their bike setup.

KOSCIUSZKO FLOW TRAIL

trail2

Starting at the top of the Snowgums Chairlift, the Kosciuszko Flow Trail is 4.5km of impressive flowing single-track with huge berms and rollers to keep the flow going making it a blast for riders from top to bottom. The steady gradient gives riders a mellower ride, but still provides the adrenalin rush of downhill riding. With no technical features or rough terrain to concur, the Flow trail is designed for a bike with 4” to 5” of suspension that would also be the smart choice for individual riders looking for the most suitable bike to race on all three trails.

ALL MOUNTAIN TRAIL

trail3

Starting at 1800m above sea level, riders will be taken on 7km of epic alpine single-track. Descending over 450m vertical through the cruiser ski slopes and thick forest areas before being dealt with a gruelling 1km hill climb traversing back to the Supertrail lopes. The final decent brings riders back into the event village finishing arena at the base of the Kosciuszko Express. Although not as steep as the Flow Trail, it offers intermediate and advanced riders plenty of variety and line choice.

Can I enter on the day of the event?

100% Yes.  All entries are welcome at anytime before you race.  Just keep in mind that registration is via online form only.  This is a race for the people and we want to include as many of your riding buddies as possible.

Is this really a FREE event ?

Yes.  This is a free event, put on specifically for your enjoyment 🙂
But to earn trail cred, we hope you support a donation to the local Trail Care (…and throw a few $ to the race organiser to say thanks! 🙂 )

Is a full face helmet required for any trails?

No. This is not required, …although Dirt Racer highly recommends full-face helmets in all events.  Please also consider Knee, Elbow and Neck Braces for additional protection.

Why do i need a "GPS" Device and a STRAVA account to participate?

GPS device for timing and STRAVA for race results

Dirt Racer is built on a new racing platform using latest web technologies,  once you register your Strava ID, race results and timing is all automatically calculated and displayed in real time.
Your STRAVA ID is not shared at anytime with other participants
You do not need a data connection during the race, simply sync your Strava recording anytime after the race (before 5pm on the day)

We have also created an event with maximum fun with the lowest costs,  A large scale event with timing gear and all the usual trimmings is expensive and very difficult to get approval at the locations we are wanting to hold the events at.

Our main purpose is to support Trail Care, to invest into trail upgrades, mainenance and new facilities for the sport on the trails you ride,  Dirt Racer is providing an opportunity and a reason to support them.

How do i find my STRAVA ID ?

You will need a web browser to check this (you can not view your ID within the Strava APP),  click on your profile photo, and your Strava ID will be showing in the web browser address bar, copy and paste that into the registration form.
